I’m back! It’s been a nice 2 month hiatus since I last dropped a brew guide, but it’s time to get back to what I do best; share an experience about the latest brewery I’ve stopped by, give you beer suggestions and make you wonder why someone with zero writing talent started a blog in the first place! Enjoy!
It’s that time of year again, it’s Pumpkin flavored everything time! I know some beer snobs turn their noses up at the thought of it, but screw them! There are a ton of really good beers out there that deserve their due. That’s why I’m sending out the Bat Signal: Tell me which New England based pumpkin beer is your favorite! I’d like to have a taste test and crown a NE Pumpkin Beer Champ!
With that call to action out of the way, let’s roll back the clock a bit to while I was on vacation. Join me for lunch at Hobbs Tavern & Brewing Co.!
Football is finally back, and as I’ll say every year, it couldn’t come back soon enough. Tonight we get to watch a 5th banner get raised and with almost 100% certainty watch the Chiefs bumble their way into a 10 point loss by throwing 3 yards at a time, while Brady goes off and hits 9 different receivers for 1,000 yard and a 10 TD’s. Damn, it feel good to be a Pats’ fan, doesn’t it?
In celebration, here’s a guide to one of my favorite breweries, Tuckerman Brewing!
We’ve had a lot of Vermont recently, and we still have one more stop to go. But I think we need a little break from the Green Mountain State. So we head east to New Hampshire, where we took a stop into 7th Settlement Brewery on our way to North Conway for 4th of July weekend. Yea, I might be a little behind.
Oh well, let dive in!
After last weekend I can confirm first hand that if Beer Advocate throws an event, you should be there. The Microbrew Invitational was fantastic. There were tons of excellent brews from all over to sample. Made it real hard to pace yourself, which I may or may not have been successful doing so. Augustus Gloop showed more willpower when he saw the chocolate river than I could. Anywho, I posted quite a bit from there to my Instagram story. If you don’t follow me on there, what the hell are you waiting for? You’re just two clicks away from greatness!
It was also great to meet the fine gentleman from Mass Brew Bros. there. It was really nice to see how a blog that has any sense of being professional is run. Most of my readers know that opportunity left here awhile ago! Check them out, they are the best resource for all things in the Massachusetts brewery scene, including having the best brewery map of MA by far.
And finally…the BrewGuide…has come back…to New Hampshireeee! That’s right, I’m staying up north this week, starting with a guide from a Microbrew Invitational attendee I just so happened to visit the weekend before, Throwback Brewery!
On our trip to NH, I had my sights set on visiting only one brewery. Woodstock Inn was meant to be my one concession on what was otherwise going to be a more romantic weekend. Luckily, I know the way to my ladies heart is through food, and when you tell her there’s a brewery on the drive up that also serves a chicken maple bacon pizza, it’s game on! With that being said we found our way to Schilling Beer Co. in Littleton. Also, big thank you to Renee from Brew NH for the suggestion!
To the brew review!
For someone who doesn’t ski or snowboard, spending some time in the White Mountains during the winter might not seem worth the trouble. Not going to lie, the wall of white out conditions I hit driving through Franconia Notch Parkway had me wondering that myself. But, there were breweries to visit (and an ice castle to explore), so weather be damned, we got to our hotel and had ourselves a ski town weekend.
Onto the brew review!
